Childrens' board games- getting everyone involved

How to involve your whole family in playing games

Childrens Board Games In today’s world, it’s sometimes very hard to find the time to really sit down with your child/children and get stuck into a good board game or other fun activity. However, finding that time is incredibly important to help the whole family to bond together and interact with each other. It’s a really fun way of spending time together, allowing family members to compete and show off skills.

1. The first step is to find the right game to play, because everyone is different, and different things interest them.  So doing a small amount of research goes a long way to discover games that you’re all going to really enjoy playing together.
2. A great way to get children involved is to actually allow them to help choose a game, because they may enjoy the game more, knowing that they had a part in its selection and purchase.
3. Junior versions of games are great options, because they still have the appeal for adults whilst allowing younger kids to join in too.
4. If time really is a big issue, and you cannot play games spontaneously with the family, then arrange a ‘games evening’ which everyone knows about in advance, and is a cert on the kitchen calendar. Even the busiest people can afford to leave one evening free every so often.
5. Having a multitude of games to play that evening is even better, including games of skill as well as games of luck so that everyone gets a chance to do something they’re good at.
6. This is a perfect time to reinforce skills that children will need as they grow up, applied with good humour in the context of the game play. This includes manners, being a good sport and taking turns.
7. Remember that good games are easy to understand, are different every time they’re played, and take an appropriate amount of time.
